About ICCS
The Institute of Communications and Computer Systems (ICCS) is a non-profit academic research body established in 1989 by the Greek Ministry of Education. It was created to carry out research and development activity in the area of telecommunications systems and techniques, computer systems, and their applications in a variety of areas. The personnel of ICCS consist of academic staff 80 University Professors, 20 senior researchers and more than 500 other researchers including. Ph.D. students across 20 research labs. ICCS is active in European research and has served as the project manager of many EU projects across various programs (e.g. EC, ISIS, RACE II, ESPRIT, IES, ACTS, INFOSEC, BRITE-EURAM, STRIDE, MIP-Informatics, Telematic Applications, IST, GROWTH, QoL, FP6 etc). ICCS is certified to conform to ISO 9001 quality management system standard.
The I-SENSE group consists of 45 researchers of various ranks and has extensive expertise working on European Commission research projects. Within ICCS, the I-SENSE Research Group (http://i-sense.iccs.gr) is very active in areas dealing with Intelligent Transportation Systems, sensors and information fusion, human machine interaction and communication technologies. The I-SENSE group has participated in more than 35 projects to date serving either as the Project Coordinator or Technical Manager.
Role in the project
ICCS leads WP3 “Cooperation and Communication Planning Unit” and is the Communication and Dissemination manager of the project. ICCS will perform observational studies and modelling of human interactions in traffic and will develop interaction-aware environment perception modules.
